Lala Thomas is a multi-talented artist in Chicago. Some of her talents range from dancing, acting, and modeling. Lala was born on March 20th, 1996, in Chicago, Illinois, USA. When Lala was younger, she always danced with her little sister Caierre "Chyna" and cousin Kyla. "Kayy Sav," Lala quickly gained interest in acting when she became older. She and her cousins made a YouTube Series called "Bad Kids Club," a play on the Oxygen series "Bad Girls Club." Lala and her cousins made up a dance group called "Dancers for life," where they performed at family events. Lala received a call to audition at a performing arts school and got accepted but realized she had to pay a large lump sum of money to attend the school, which Lala couldn't afford.
Lala took her talents to high school after seeing the dance team always perform at events. She showcased her skills in 2015 for her high school awards night with the Boys & Girls Club as she and the rest of the dance team members performed for the audience before accepting their awards. Lala quickly gained popularity for her dancing skills. A month later, the Boys & Girls Club dance team performed for the Annual Know Peace event hosted by the Boys & Girls Club, which surprised the audience. In 2015, the Bgc dance team performed at the Pep rally. At that time, the music they played had technical difficulties, and they completed their performance without music.
A few months later, Lala injured her right ankle, and doctors told her she couldn't dance for six weeks. She then departed from the dance team and acted with the American Theater company and Wells Ensemble Theater. Later that year, Lala appeared in two successful stage plays, performing six times at Wells High school and two times at American Theater Company. In April 2016, Lala danced alone and won 3rd place in her High school talent show. That was the last time Lala performed on the Wells High School stage two months before graduation.
After high school, Lala stopped dancing and wrote a short film called "Life Problems," centering on six young adults with various life struggles. "Some characters try to hide their struggles while the others are reaching their breaking point," said Thomas. "I wrote it because the situations they are facing you see in reality including teen pregnancy, abortion, navigating life as an LGBTQ+ person, homelessness, drug, and alcohol use, raising kids as a single parent, bullying, suicide, and love." Thomas is currently awaiting financial support to produce this short film.
In time, Lala has focused on her brand, "Talented Lala," which she created in September 2015. Lala made and sold pinback buttons to raise funds for her Performing Arts Center. Lala has expanded her brand through her internet radio show that she started in November 2018- Talented Lala Radio. Lala has interviewed Talented local stars Noiramad, FerGusin, and Chyna The Dancer and has segments where she talks about trans issues, equality, the state of the world, and changes in music over the years, as well as what happened in her life that week.
To date, Lala has performed for the company Loose Lips, where two performers battle it out lip-syncing to two songs each for a grand prize. Lala quickly became a fan favorite during her first performance performing to Nicki Minaj Chun Li and Super Bass. Lala stated, " I performed Chun Li because even if you're fighting for a good cause, people can flip it and super bass because everyone knows super bass." Lala won her 4th performance performing to Nicki Minaj's Anaconda/Feeling myself and TLC's hit song "No Scrubs." To this day, Lala has participated in five battles.
In October 2019, Lala began to take modeling more seriously. She walked in Chicago Fashion Week in October 2019, modeling clothes for "Everything a girl needs" and "Morph Clothing. She then started off the 2019 new year with a photo shoot with photographer L Christian Cabrera known as "Luis." He then went on to work with Lala on a much bigger project in 2020. As Lala states, "The project we made history with." The virtual Halloween special for Loose Lips Battle. as though Lala had a couple of tricks up her sleeve. The first half of the project featured Mikey The G, a multi-talented entertainer. As for the second half, Lala hit the screen by herself, sporting a sheer see thru long sleeve top with black x nipple coverings, a mini black and white plaid skirt/short set, with a pair of thigh-high boots from Aldo. The project is reported to have had a budget of $1,300. In February 2021, Lala participated in the glam and shoot fundraiser for @nitaslovetrain to help mothers and their children get food, clothing items, funds, etc. The project raised over $500+. Models had the chance to get their makeup done and get styled by KarenTracy Designs (@KarenTraceyDesigns), a Chicago clothing designer and stylist. In December 2021. Lala was picked to participate in Dick's Sporting Goods Vertical Brands Day. The Vertical Brands, Business Development Team styled teammates head-to-toe in some of their favorite pieces from our vertical brands. She modeled Calia by Carrie.
